The first tip when preparing for your bridal tan is to make sure you find the right spray tan artist. Not all spray tans are the same, which is why it’s important to find someone who can customize your color to your unique skin tone. When it comes to wedding spray tans, it’s worth it to pay more for a quality experience and results.  

In addition to finding the perfect color, a skilled spray tan artist can also contour your body in all the right places to give you a toned, healthy look. Strapless dress? GET A TRIAL SPRAY TAN BEFORE

TAKE CARE OF YOUR TAN

After you have your spray tan for the wedding, it’s important to take care of it to help it fade evenly and look beautiful for up to two weeks after your appointment (which is perfect if you’re jetting off to your honeymoon right after the wedding). 

These post-spray tan tips will help keep you glowing leading up to, and for days after, the wedding: 

• Avoid all moisture, including working out, sweating, and showering for at least 4-5 hours after your spray tan. Even if you’re still working on that #weddingbod, take a break from the gym as your tan develops.
• When you do shower, take a shower that’s as cold as you can handle. Hot water strips your tan off quickly and if you want to make your spray tan last for your wedding and beyond, you need to take good care of it. You should wait at least 4 hours to shower, but not longer than 24 hours. 
• Avoid any exfoliants and just use the palm of your hand to gently rinse off. Avoid harsh scrubbing, hot water, drying soaps, and other chemicals.
• After day 4 of your tan, moisturize twice a day with an oil-free moisturizer. Even if you have a perfect glow, no one wants dry skin. 
• Keeping your hands off your skin as much as possible. You don’t want to mess up your spray tan before the wedding!

7. Moisturizing is the key to making your tan last longer. Right after you get out of the shower, lock in moisture with an oil-free moisturizer. Moisturize in the morning and evening.  
8. From day 3 on, use our Tan Extender as your primary moisturizer.  
9. To preserve your tan, avoid swimming, long showers, baths, steam rooms, and saunas. 
10. Avoid harsh chemicals such as chlorine, products containing acids, massages, fashion tape, bandages, and anything else that may strip your tan. 
11. We know it’s hard, but keep your hands off your hot self. No leg crossing or other skin to skin contact. 
12. Don’t be afraid to “top off” your tan with some tinted moisturizers. Just make sure that the color is the same as your Be Bronze tan. Highlighter and bronzer also help you keep that glow for longer.  
13. Don’t exfoliate until you’re ready to say goodbye to your current tan and hello to a new one.  

How long will my spray tan last ?  In general spray tans are advertised to last 10 days but this depends on the shade that you choose. A lighter spray tan may last about 5 days, a medium shade may last 7 days, and a darker shade should last 10 days. Spray tans contain dihydroxyacetone or DHA and the more DHA the spray tan contains the longer it lasts. The before and after care of your spray tan also play a big role in its longevity

Of course, when you’re off to a spray tan appointment, comfort is a must. You want to feel at ease before and after your appointment; and if you’re not comfortable receiving a spray tan in the nude, you want to make sure you have appropriate, comfortable clothing during the session. 

What to wear during a spray tan is up to you. Some people go in the nude and many wear just a thong. If you do choose to wear clothing during the appointment, you may get tan lines, so wear as little as possible to prevent that dreaded unevenness. 

If you are comfortable in the nude, you still need to think about what to wear after your spray tan and how it may affect the tanning solution as it develops. Tight clothing, shoes, and even jewelry can cause the spray tan formula to rub off, and you certainly aren’t about removing a spray tan right after your appointment!

Tight, close-toed shoes are a no-no when it comes to spray tans. The pressure and rubbing on your feet can cause streaks and remove freshly applied solution. To avoid the smudge, choose loose, open-toed sandals like flip flops or slip-ons without a heel. Also, don’t wear socks or tights on a freshly tanned foot!

As gorgeous as your jewels may be, you want to leave them safe at home when you go to your spray tan appointment. Make sure to remove rings, necklaces, earrings, bracelets, cuffs, or any other type of jewelry that could cause a line or rub the solution off. 

When deciding what to wear to a spray tan session, always choose loose clothing that won’t rub on your skin. Flowy dresses and skirts, or loose-fitting jumpsuits without elastic are ideal. If you’re comfortable, avoid wearing a bra or underwear, which tends to cling to skin and may cause discoloration. 

If you carry a purse, this may be the perfect time to clean it out and only pack essential items that are lightweight–or leave your purse at home altogether.
